Linerz Inserts, LLC is taking significant steps towards promoting safety and fostering diversity and inclusivity in the business world as a certified member of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) organizations.
With a focus on head protection in low impact work environments, Linerz assists in expanding the worldview of women-owned businesses in the industrial sector. Owner and Lead Designer Julie Pusateri founded Linerz Bump Cap Hat Inserts 10 years ago when she developed the first universal, lightweight, high-density foam hat insert. The new design provided a cooler, more comfortable option to the hotter and heavier, plastic-based bump cap inserts that first came to market. It is a well known Catch 22 that head protection if not well-ventilated can result in overheating and heat-stroke, Linerz Inserts helps to remedy these dangers.
Over recent years bump cap hat inserts have come to serve a crucial purpose in low-impact work environments. Designed to protect workers' heads from minor bumps and bruises, Linerz find utility in low-impact settings such as auto, aircraft and machining maintenance, installation, janitorial services, manufacturing, warehouses, etc. Even in low-impact environments accidents can happen, and any injury can lead to downtime, decreased productivity and increased costs for employers. Linerz Inserts aim to promote a safe and secure workplace and help to foster a productive and confident work environment. Major distribution companies such as AirGas, Grainger & Fastenal along with prominent companies such as SpaceX, Boeing, Amazon and Fedex all utilize Linerz to provide low impact protection for workers. As she is first a Product Designer by trade - SpaceX also recently commissioned Pusateri to design custom hats to go with the Linerz hard-shell inserts they have implemented for their team.
While there has been some progress for women in the industrial and manufacturing business sector, women continue to remain underrepresented in these areas of business. Pusateri says despite facing some definitive challenges along the way, she has had on the whole a positive experience running her company and her ideas and communication have been well-received by her industry. She enjoys helping to open the doors for others and frequently contracts out various aspects of her business to other businesswomen and mentioned her business is currently 100 percent woman-owned and woman-assisted.
“Completing my WBENC and WOSB applications allowed me to glance back on the past 10 years of my business adventure with Linerz, and it was a wonderful reminder of how far I, and Linerz, have both come. The whole process gifted me with a renewed sense of purpose. The WBENC and WOSB are providing me an a infinite support network of amazing people and opportunities, and after losing my husband and business partner to Leukemia in 2020, I no longer felt alone in my mission. Accomplishing these certifications will forever be remembered as two wonderful achievements that marked a turning point in the rebuilding and success of my life and business.”
