Avanti Corporation, an Alexandria-based woman-owned small business, is excited to announce that it has received a 5-year, $9 million contract from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Division of Extramural Research and Training (DERT). Avanti has been supporting federal agencies with environmental and human health assessments, impact analyses, and data management efforts since 1990.
The contract supports NIEHS’ mission to discover how the environment affects human health in order to promote healthier lives. Avanti will support DERT’s efforts to develop research priorities and allocate resources, maintain awareness of national research efforts, and assess the need for research and research training in environmental health. We look forward to supporting DERT in effectively managing and using the information on awarded grants to help fulfill the NIEHS mission.
Avanti has teamed with Battelle Memorial Institute (Battelle), the world’s largest nonprofit independent research and development organization, for this contract. Avanti and Battelle have a long-standing relationship having first partnered in 1991. We look forward to collaborating with Battelle’s staff with expertise in public health, environmental sciences, data sciences, and scientific computing to support NIEHS’ mission.
The contract scope includes a broad range of technical, logistics, and administrative support tasks including Portfolio Management, Analysis, and Translation; Science Writing and Content Development; and Special Project Support.
According to Avanti President and CEO, Lynn Petrazzuolo, “This contract is a great opportunity to provide valuable technical support to an agency that is on the front lines of funding and overseeing important research in environmental health issues at a time when our country is beginning to realize the interconnectivity of environmental agents and human diseases.”
