W4 Construction Group LLC, awarded Major HVAC Project at Joint Base Andrews

USACE Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, Ala., has awarded W4 Construction Group (W4CG) LLC, a contract for the Design/Build and the repair or replacement of HVAC Systems in multiple buildings at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. The value of the contract is nearly $1.7 million and will cover three facilities, including the Family Support Center, the Air Mobility Command Facility and Hangar 1280 that houses DynCorp. The contract has an estimated completion date of August 2016.
Michael J. Odrobina, W4CG's General Manager is eager for his team to tackle the challenge of the project.
"This project will demonstrate W4CG's diversity, as a company, and showcase our ability to execute major Design/Build projects," Odrobina explained. "We will be working closely with the facility occupants to complete this project with little, to no, down time for the HVAC systems. These facilities are mission critical for Joint Base Andrews' operations."
This project includes both full design and engineering of repairs and/or complete replacement of existing systems that are inadequate, or inoperable. Some of the repairs to existing systems will include:
• Adding VAV's and modifying building exhaust 
• Replacing VFD's and adding pre-heat coils
• Modification of an existing AHU and chiller
• Replacing a boiler and installing hydronic pre-heat and reheat coils
• Integration into existing building controls
• Commissioning of the repaired and reworked systems.
W4CG will be working closely with Siemens Building Technology Group to improve the new DDC control system, which will deliver complete and functional HVAC systems in all three buildings. Given the facilities have around the clock operations and will remain occupied during construction, W4CG will provide temporary heating and cooling throughout the duration of the project.
