Geek Sources Incorporated (GeekSI) is proud to announce that it has received the HUBZone Certification this June 2018. With this certification GeekSI can now compete for government contracts using the HUBZone set-aside, which will expand its opportunities to provide its quality services to government agencies who are looking to fulfill their HUBZone set-aside requirements. This wouldn't have been possible if not for its interns. GeekSI has provided them with the means to acquire skills and an education, but they have provided GeekSI with the opportunity to be even more competitive in a market that it has been a part of since 1998. With access to more contracting opportunities, it can ideally provide even more job opportunities to the people of Tallahassee.
Their interns are advantageous to GeekSI in a number of ways. All of their interns live in designated HUBZones as delineated by the city of Tallahassee and the Small Business Administration which runs the HUBZone program. HUBZones are Historically Underutilized Business Zones, areas of cities with low economic activity and prospects. Businesses operating within HUBZones, and whose workforce comprises of 51% or more of individuals living in HUBZones, are eligible for a HUBZone Certification and certain set-asides in government contracting.
GeekSI is a software development company that specializes in IT and engineering services to state and federal government, as well as the commercial industry, since 1998. For 20 years, it has been providing praise-worthy services that have been rated either "Outstanding" or "Very Good" across the board by their customers. Our customers know they are passionate about building software solutions that last applying Agile and DevOps methods. Alongside its exceptional services, GeekSI has collected several certifications over the years, including Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) and Socially Disadvantaged Business (SDB). GeekSI is a growing company, and it takes pride in our grassroots approach to building our business. Because of their connection to the community, owners Jeff and Deniz Franck are in a unique position to give back to the people of Tallahassee that are at a disadvantage. Through its intern training program, it gives jobs to those down on their luck, and provide them with educational resources and skills that are useful in the workforce. Many of GeekSI's interns are completing their GED while also learning basic computer competency skills. They are mastering how to work in a team and in an office environment, and all that entails. Not all of its interns are disadvantaged, though. Some are college students, building their skill sets with GeekSI while still in school, so that they can make the move into the workforce with a confidence that comes with applying oneself. These interns take on more complex roles with GeekSI that suit their skill level and level of education. GeekSI is thrilled about the opportunity to work with all of these valued employees.
